Damn it’s been a while waffles

Well that’s not the name of the waffles. Just that it’s actually been a (long ass) while since my last post and this post is about waffles because those are the latest pictures on my phone of something I made…

…Well technically I didn’t make them alone. My husband – oh did I tell you that I’m married? Yup between now and my last post I got married. Yay! ‘Bout to celebrate our first anniversary. Yay!… Right I was saying, my husband made the batter and ironed it (as in put the batter in the waffle iron). I “decorated” them with cream and fruits. But honestly he’s so crappy at making waffles – the batter was thin and the waffles were malformed and tasteless- I should take all the credits because I made them so presentable and tastier because of the cream and fruit and golden syrup.

For the above mentioned reasons, recipe is not included here as I value my reputation as a not-yet-famous home connoisseur/chef.

BTW I got a mandoline from Borner (cost about £50 and wasn’t cheap) and I can’t say I’m loving it. It’s only good for processing soft textured, regularly shaped food (like cucumber or courgette). I tried to slice strawberries and julienne carrots with it but the results were far from satisfactory. At one point while I tried to julienne a section of a carrot, the prongs that were supposed to hold the carrot in place slid across the back of the carrot and the carrot was left stuck among the blades. And the mandoline plates were stained badly from the carrots. I’ll probably return to knives unless I can find a solution.
